It is a sad and unfortunate thing that we have all arrived at this place.  We have all contributed much to a company which we believed in and hoped to be making change for the better in communication access for the deaf community.  And, quite frankly, we can all be proud in our achievements!  Despite the alleged fraud (and I say "alleged" because they have yet to have their day in court"), we were all part of a team; a family of people who had come together  to distribute a world class videophone, and service by top notch interpreters.

But now, after we have kept up our side of the deal, we have not been paid.  We have been harmed by the company that we once so proudly worked for.  We must now unite to take our case to court to demand not only payment for what we have been denied, but the penalties that accompany the failure to pay.  The statute in Maryland allows for three times wages owed as a penalty for failure to pay.  You can join this class action lawsuit despite where you live.  The company is headquartered in Maryland, and therefore we have a right to be heard in Maryland.  If you were working in the Austin center and were laid off, you may join the case in Maryland.  If you work in Florida, Wisconsin, or any other state for that matter, you have a right for your case to be heard in Maryland.  Join the cause!  If you are a current employee, you should still join the cause and get paid!

Why should you join?  Simply put, by combining our efforts we can collectively reduce the amount of our personal attorney fees.  We can all be represented by one attorney that is speaking on behalf of all.  Since their time is essentially the same as it would be for representing a single client, they can reduce their retainer for each person.

What's the downside?  Well, this really comes down to how the company responds to the lawsuit and subsequent award by the court.  Every law suit has inherent risk, so you should be prepared for this.  Lawsuits can cause an emotional toll on individuals and families.  But if we unite, and support one another, we can get through this together.  Remember, they have not paid us, and have shown no good faith in any effort to do so.  We need to be strong in the face of adversity and do whatever is necessary within the limits of the law to receive what is rightfully ours....our pay!

Information will be made available regularly on this web site, including contact information to join the class.  A blog is available for posting.  However, I ask that you keep this blog to the point at hand, which is the failure to pay, and not turn it in to a dialog of personal attacks.  We are all here to support one another, and not attack others.

Best of luck to us all!!
